Vikings WR Justin Jefferson scored for the third straight game in Sunday's victory over Houston. He was one of four Minnesota players to catch TD passes from QB Sam Darnold in the victory. Jefferson led the team in targets (8), receptions (6), and yards (81).
Jefferson drew 28.5% of Darnold's total pass attempts in this game, which marked his highest reception output so far.
Jefferson has garnered 27% target share through three games, despite leaving Week 2 early with a quad contusion.
He faced lighter target competition against the Texans, with RB Aaron Jones second in targets and catches, and WR Jalen Nailor the only other teammate to catch at least two passes.
We'll see what Jefferson's target shares look like once WR Jordan Addison and TE T.J. Hockenson return. But I'm certainly not worried about Jefferson getting enough work with a well-performing QB.
This has been an encouraging start for Jefferson's fantasy viability the rest of the way. Keep him glued into lineups as long as he stays healthy.
Nailor's second straight game with a TD will make him pop statistically, but he drew just 4 targets and caught three balls for 31 yards.
Nailor's fine as a desperation play while Addison's out but has not given us any reason to get excited about his fantasy upside.
Addison should be back soon. And Hockenson will be eligible to return as soon as Week 5.
