Cowboys Put Brandin Cooks on IR

Brandin Cooks Headshot

The Cowboys have placed WR Brandin Cooks on IR for his knee infection. The issue seems likely to keep him out for just the required four weeks, but we'll watch for updates on his situation. He'll be eligible to return for a Week 10 home date with the Eagles.

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

WR Jalen Tolbert has worked as the clear No. 3 wideout, playing almost as many snaps as Cooks and leader CeeDee Lamb.

Expect elevated playing time and target shares for him, though Cooks has drawn only 19 targets through four games, 12.8% of QB Dak Prescott's total attempts. That's tied with Tolbert, who sits ahead of Cooks in catches and yards.

Jalen Brooks figures to step into the WR3 role, but don't bet on big fantasy impact.

Tolbert sits just 60th among PPR WRs in our Week 5 rankings, with Cooks already ruled out. There's certainly upside beyond that range, but keep your expectations modest.

Good usage at Pittsburgh this week could make Tolbert a sneaky Week 6 option for a home date with the Lions.
