Julian Blackmon to Have Offseason Shoulder Surgery

Colts S Julian Blackmon will have surgery on his right shoulder, according to James Boyd of The Athletic. Blackmon reportedly tore the labrum in his right shoulder all the way back in Week 1. He missed the following game but then returned to play all but three snaps the rest of the way.

Dynasty Impact

Blackmon playing through the injury for 15 games of the NFL season should mean that he'll be fine for the start of 2025 after the surgery.

But the 26-year-old safety is also headed for unrestricted free agency in March. This surgery could complicate his market.

Blackmon has spent most of the past five seasons starting for Indy. He missed 18 total games over that span, with 11 of those coming in 2021 after he suffered an Achilles' tear.

Although he has flashed some upside at times, Blackmon hasn't proved to be a special producer and plays one of fantasy's most volatile positions.

I wouldn't treat the surgery or uncertainty of his free agency as reasons to drop Blackmon in dynasty, but he's also not a must-keep.
