Dynasty Stashes to Grab Now and Flip for Value This Offseason

Stashing future free agents now is the easiest way to build dynasty value. We break down the best players to trade for and the top waiver adds to flip later.

Dynasty Stashes to Grab Now and Flip for Value This Offseason

If you play in a large-roster dynasty league, you know the pain of churning the end of your bench. Longshots who won’t make it, young practice-squad players, and rookie draft busts litter your back end.

Being in numerous leagues with 30 to 40 roster spots, I know the torture of a thin waiver all too well.

[I know the torture of a thin waiver wire all too well, playing in a dozen leagues of 30-40 roster spots.]

As the regular season wraps up, there is one way to maximize the end of your roster for future value gains: Adding or trading for upcoming NFL free agents.

        Capitalize on Free Agency Hype

When NFL free agency opens, the fantasy analysis hits social media fast, often inflating roles and values even for players on minimal contracts or without proven talent.

Even if they re-sign with the same team, the idea that the team “believes in them” sticks. You can then move them for a third-round rookie pick, or sometimes more.

The Art of the Low-Risk Stash When the Market Loses Its Mind

Back in 2023, fantasy favorite RB Rashaad Penny was set to become a free agent. He was an easy waiver pickup for anyone paying attention before the 2022 season ended.

Penny signed a one-year, $1.35 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles needed an RB, and Penny had flashed in the rare instances he stayed healthy, so expectations grew.

You could have moved him for a late second or early third immediately after the signing.

Don’t drop anyone of significance to pick up these lottery tickets, but if you have open roster spots, they are worth stashing.

Make the Trade Before Free Agency Hits

Looking at the list of upcoming free agents helps more than just waiver work. You can also trade for players who hold minimal value now but could get that same offseason bump.

Moving a third-round rookie pick for a bench player and flipping them next offseason after they sign a new contract can net you an even higher pick.

Trade Targets Poised for Offseason Value Spikes

These players are already rostered, but most can be acquired with minimal investment. All are in the final year of their contracts and have the potential for a value increase this offseason.

        Alec Pierce, WR, Indianapolis Colts

        Headshot of Alec Pierce

Pierce will hit free agency after this season and has been a staple in the Colts offense. He led Colts WRs in snaps in 2023 and ranked second behind Michael Pittman Jr. in 2024 and (so far) in 2025.

At 6’3 and 211 pounds with 4.41 speed, he has worked as a deep threat, averaging 22.3 yards per catch in 2024. That size and speed will be coveted, even if he hasn’t topped 825 receiving yards in a season (though he is on pace for 1,096 this year).

Speed WRs such as Tutu Atwell and Dyami Brown signed one-year, $10 million deals this past offseason. Pierce should at least match that. His size and consistency as an “X” WR could lead to a multi-year deal.

Offer a third-round rookie pick for Pierce now. If he signs with a WR-needy team, you can flip him for even more.

Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

        Headshot of Rachaad White

White broke out in 2023 and finished as the RB6 in PPR. The addition of Bucky Irving last year led to a slow decline, and White eventually lost the starting job.

Even with Irving missing five games this year, White has still struggled. He topped 11 PPR points in only two of those five games.

That keeps his dynasty value low, but NFL teams could view him in the same tier as Javonte Williams or J.K. Dobbins last year: talented RBs worth a one-year deal to see if they can reach their peak again.

If White signs with an RB-needy team sporting a good offense, his dynasty value will spike in the offseason.

Try to land him for a third-round rookie pick and a bench player. White should appreciate in value.

        Isaiah Likely, TE, Baltimore Ravens

        Headshot of Isaiah Likely

I highlighted Likely in this week’s film article, analyzing his savvy football IQ. He missed the first three games with a fractured foot and hasn’t hit double-digit PPR points in any game this season.

Likely posted his best finish last year as the PPR TE17, but splitting snaps with Mark Andrews has held him back.

He has several paths to value. Andrews is also a free agent, so the Ravens could re-sign Likely and let Andrews walk, making Likely the primary TE.
If the Ravens bring back Andrews, Likely could sign as a starter elsewhere and gain value that way.

Likely is taking up space on an opposing manager’s bench and can often be included as an add-on in a trade, making him nearly free.

He could be a stash that turns into a startable TE with the starting job. He could be worth keeping around after he signs. If you are flush with TEs, then Likely can still be flipped for profit.

Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

        Headshot of Romeo Doubs

Doubs is the most expensive player on the list, valued at the level of an early 2026 second-round rookie pick on our Dynasty Trade Value Chart. He is on pace for 842 receiving yards this season, 168 more than his previous career high.

Doubs has provided a steady presence in a WR room that has seen Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Matthew Golden miss time -- plus TE Tucker Kraft tearing an ACL.

But with the way the offense spreads the ball, Doubs could generate more hype on a new team, even as a No. 2 WR.

Even if he remains with the Packers, he should hold his value or serve as a productive depth WR. Best case, Doubs signs with a WR-needy team and you flip him for a first-round rookie pick.

Waiver Targets You Can Flip After They Sign New Deals

These players may be available on your waiver wire depending on league depth. None should be added over assets with true long-term value, but they could sign early in free agency and create a sell window.

        Jerome Ford, RB, Cleveland Browns

        Headshot of Jerome Ford

Ford looked like a breakout player when he ran for 813 yards and 4 TDs in 2023. Even after the Browns drafted Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson, Ford was the veteran expected to maintain a role.

Instead, he has produced only 74 yards on 22 carries this season. He has, however, remained active as a receiver with 21 catches. That should appeal to teams looking for a receiving back.

Ford has been cut in many dynasty leagues and is worth stashing. There should be enough buzz if he signs with a team lacking an established RB to fetch a rookie pick this offseason.

        Greg Dortch, WR, Arizona Cardinals

        Headshot of Greg Dortch

News of Marvin Harrison Jr.’s appendectomy made Dortch an immediate add. If he’s still on your waiver wire, pick him up now.
Dortch has been a role player for the Cardinals as a slot WR over the past four years, peaking with 3 TDs in 2024.

It’s unlikely Dortch becomes a consistent fantasy option, especially if he remains limited to 3-WR sets. But if he signs with a good QB or system, he could generate enough interest to flip for a late-round rookie pick.

If he produces while Harrison is out, his price could rise even further.
