Jalyx Hunt, Edge, Philadelphia Eagles
Welp, I was hoping to present Hunt as a sneaky-level option for his Week 15 matchup with the Raiders. But Monday night’s 2.5-sack explosion against the Chargers will probably make Hunt a little tougher to acquire.
It certainly doesn’t make him any less attractive as an option, though, and it wasn’t the start of Hunt’s production.
Philly’s second-year edge had gone three games without a sack before that contest. But he has registered QB hits in 11 of 13 games for the season. That includes 9 over just the past four contests. And the athletic youngster even has a pair of INTs for the year.
Now comes a Raiders offense that has allowed 4+ sacks to five straight opponents. Upside player meet high-upside spot.
Chase Young, Edge, New Orleans Saints
Young should remain widely available after a weak stat line in Sunday’s win over the Bucs. But he gets a terrific run of matchups from Week 15 through Week 17.
Young is averaging 3.4 pressures per game and carries the 12th-best PFF pass-rushing grade among all edge players.
His favorable playoff run starts with a Carolina matchup that actually found Young earning his lowest pass-rushing grade this season. But he still managed 3 pressures in that contest. Young hasn’t been sacked a lot but has some variability there and ranks 14th-highest in pressure rate among 28 QBs with 100+ dropbacks, per PFF.
Chase Young’s matchups get better the following two weeks: vs. the Jets and at the Titans. He’s at least worth stashing for those contests even if you have better options for Week 15.
Azeez Al-Shaair, LB, Houston Texans
Al-Shaair posted an odd stat line for Sunday night’s win at Kansas City, deriving a lot of his fantasy value from the ricochet INT. But he made our Sunday night waiver email on the strength of his fantasy-playoff matchups.
As I pointed out in the Week 14 IDP Hits, Houston gets the second-best remaining schedule for LB scoring -- and a similarly favorable draw across defensive positions.
That starts with an Arizona matchup that has supplied the second-most fantasy points per game to LB over the past five weeks. Al-Shaair sits available in 82% of Sleeper IDP leagues as of this writing.
DeMarvion Overshown, LB, Dallas Cowboys
Here’s one for deeper leagues. (Check your Free Agent Finder for shallower outfits.)
Overshown has increased his playing time each of the past three games after making his season debut in Week 11. That still got him to just 76% last time out, with a season high of 7 total tackles.
If that’s not enough to be worth your time, feel free to skip over him. But Overshown gets a high-upside matchup with the Vikings in Week 15, the second-best scoring spot for LBs by our adjusted fantasy points allowed.
And if Overshown’s playing time continues to climb, he could also prove usable in positive matchups the following two weeks against the Chargers and Commanders. The overall schedule ranks third-most friendly for the position the rest of the way.
Arizona Cardinals LBs
I’m including this as more of a discussion than straight recommendation, because there are some things going on in the desert.
Owen Pappoe replaced Akeem Davis-Gaither in the lineup out of nowhere Sunday against the Rams. Literally. Pappoe hadn’t played a defensive snap before that game. He played just 50% in that one but posted 10 tackles (6 solo) and a pass breakup to crack LB1 territory for the week.
That’s not enough playing time to count on him for Week 15, though, barring some revelation that his role will grow further. This also marks the first week that LB Mack Wilson is eligible to return from IR (rib injury). If he does, Wilson probably reclaims the top role.
But would that keep his replacement, Cody Simon, aboard as the No. 2 or push him out of the lineup?
For most IDP managers, it’ll be best to just ignore the situation. But we’ll have to watch for signals this week of what to expect. Fortunately, Sunday’s Houston matchup is the worst left for LB scoring on Arizona’s schedule.
If we can gain clarity this week, Cards LBs might prove usable vs. Atlanta and/or at Cincinnati.
Marlon Humphrey, CB, Baltimore Ravens
Humphrey’s best remaining matchup comes this week: a rematch with Cincinnati, which is adding, according to our adjusted fantasy points allowed.
Humphrey racked up 9 tackles (7 solo), a sack, and 2 QB hits in the Thanksgiving night loss to the Bengals. He also defensed passes in each meeting with Cincinnati last year.
He heads into this rematch off a season-high 3 passes defensed in the Week 14 loss to Pittsburgh. That game also marked the first among the past six in which Humphrey didn’t get multiple pass-rushing opportunities.
Humphrey carries enticing upside for this weekend.
