The Green Bay Packers have placed RB MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) on injured reserve, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
Schneidman: “MarShawn Lloyd and Jacob Monk placed on IR with the designation to return. They’ll miss at least the first four games.”
Lloyd’s career is off to a rough start.
Only in the league for a year, Lloyd has already suffered ankle, hamstring, groin and thigh injuries. Now, he’ll open the season on injured reserve for the second consecutive time. With Green Bay’s bye coming in Week 5, the earliest Lloyd can return is Week 6.
Emanuel Wilson will now operate as Green Bay’s RB2, which really means one thing: Josh Jacobs is poised for a heavy workload once again.
During his first season in Green Bay, Jacobs averaged 19.8 touches per game, the eighth-most in the NFL. The Packers, meanwhile, sported the league’s second-highest neutral script rush rate (52.1%).
