The Panthers are expected to deactivate RB Chuba Hubbard for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Hubbard has missed practice this week after aggravating a calf injury he tried to play through in the loss to the Patriots. Rico Dowdle's the next man up.
The final numbers from last week's game make it look like Dowdle split the non-Hubbard work with rookie RB Trevor Etienne. But according to Pro Football Focus, Etienne played just one of the team's first 56 snaps in that game.
The rookie logged all seven of his rushing attempts on the final possession of a 42-13 loss at New England.
We'd bet on some involvement for Etienne this week, but expect Dowdle to operate as the clear lead back and potential workhorse for an upside matchup.
Miami sits 31st in total defensive DVOA, 25th against the run, and slightly positive for RB scoring so far by our adjusted fantasy points allowed.
