Chargers QB Justin Herbert was pressured often against the Steelers, being sacked five times. He ended up completing 20 of 33 passes for 220 yards and a TD. He did find a little success with his legs rushing 5 times for 19 yards. Missing OTs Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater was apparent against the Steelers with Herbert throwing the ball under pressure throughout the game.

Quick passing still helped Herbert accumulate some statistics, but he was either being hit in the backfield or having passes batted down all night.

He did throw a TD to WR Ladd McConkey in the second quarter after an INT gave the offense a short field.

TE Oronde Gadsden disappointed going 3-13-0 on 6 targets. He suffered a knee injury in the third quarter and did not return.

RB Kimani Vidal found success on the ground, which helped take pressure off of Herbert late in the game. Vidal went 25-95-1 on the ground with a 13-yard receptions as well.

Herbert has a positive match-up against the Jaguars next week before the Chargers’ bye week. Vidal will likely remain the starter next week in a negative match-up against the Jaguars, but Omarion Hampton could return from IR after the Chargers’ bye.
