Bills RB James Cook struggled to find running room in Sunday’s surprising loss at Miami. Buffalo’s lead back posted just 4.1 yards per carry against a unit that entered as one of the worst run defenses on the season.
What They're Saying
Here's QB Josh Allen following the loss, via The Athletic.
“I’ve got to be better. I’ve got to be better in the protection game, and the pass game, and the run game. All of it,” he said.

Per Next Gen Stats, Cook’s expected yards per carry was only 3.2. He ran into a stacked box on 53.8% of his attempts, one of the highest marks for all Week 10 RBs.
Through that lens, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the 26-year-old.
Most surprisingly, Buffalo fell behind 16-0 in the first half. They wound up losing 30-13, helping limit Cook to 13 carries for 53 scoreless yards. He saw only one goal line rush attempt.
Cook also fumbled for the second time this season, as DB Jack Jones punched the ball out after a 9-yard gain.
Receiving production helped buoy a passable PPR day, as Cook caught all 5 of his targets for 24 yards. The 5 catches marked the second-highest tally of his career.
Next up is a matchup with a Bucs squad that just allowed a huge 14-147-2 line to rookie TreVeyon Henderson. Keep Cook active as an RB1.
