Jets QB Justin Fields turned in a useful fantasy line in Thursday night's loss to the Patriots. He completed 15 of 26 passes for just 116 yards. But he found a wide-open WR John Metchie for a 22-yard TD in the third quarter and didn't throw an INT. Fields didn't do anything spectacular as a passer, but he avoided egregious misfires and wasn't helped by a handful of drops by his WRs, particularly Adonai Mitchell. Most importantly, Fields ran 11 times for 67 yards and a five-yard TD on a read-option on New York's first possession.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Fields' serviceable Week 11 followed a disastrous Week 10: 54 passing yards and just 28 rushing yards. He's been up and down all season, with a pair of top-five finishes but four weeks at QB25 or worse.
The passing production has been consistently horrible lately. Fields has been held under 120 yards in four of his last five games and under 60 in three of those. Don't expect that to get any better, at least over the next three weeks with WR Garrett Wilson out.
The rushing production vs. the Patriots was promising. Fields' 67 yards were his second-most of the season, and the 11 carries were tied for his second-most. He had multiple designed runs and was willing to take off and scramble when plays broke down.
Can we expect that to continue? Not if HC Aaron Glenn can help it.
"We don’t want to make a habit of our QB continuing to run because we can put him in harm’s way," Glenn said after the game. "Justin ran the ball quite a bit. The thing is, we can’t put Justin in a situation where he’s a RB because we’ll put him in harm’s way. We just have to be very calculated on when we do those things."
Ok then.
Fields’ legs are one of the few real weapons this Jets offense has -- and his only path to sustainable fantasy value. If we can't count on the Jets taking advantage of that ability, we can't count on Fields in fantasy lineups.
He remains in play in 2-QB and superflex leagues, but Fields' floor is simply too low to mess with in 1-QB leagues.
