RB Omarion Hampton led the Chargers in carries (15) and rushing yards (61) in Sunday's win over the Chiefs. He edged Kimani Vidal by three carries and matched his one target. But Hampton also trailed Vidal in playing time for the second straight week, powered by the Chargers favoring Vidal in passing situations. L.A. remained basically even in pass-run split, with 33 dropbacks vs. 29 designed run plays vs. Kansas City.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Vidal played 42 snaps to Hampton's 24. That included a 20-7 edge in pass routes, according to Pro Football Focus. Vidal's 30-9 lead in total pass snaps also signals L.A. favoring his pass blocking over Hampton's.
The rookie proved the more effective rusher against K.C., averaging 4.1 yards per rush to Vidal's 2.8.
Both Chargers RBs get a more favorable rushing matchup vs. Dallas in Week 16. But the team has also fallen short of 300 total yards in three of its past four games.
If L.A. falls behind Dallas next Sunday, it could be bad news for Hampton's playing time. At the very least, the setup adds risk to Hampton's fantasy outlook.
And a Week 17 matchup with Houston's defense doesn't look friendly for anyone.
Try to avoid using Chargers RBs the next two weeks if you can help it.
