Blake Corum to help keep Kyren Williams fresh

Rams GM Les Snead said the selection of RB Blake Corum in this year's draft was to help keep RB Kyren Williams fresh. "It's a tough league; it's a 17-game season plus playoffs, might go to 18 games one day," Snead said. "So we always felt like we needed to have as many quality runners as possible so we don't just totally run down Kyren, and we have one or two, or even three guys that can contribute, keep everyone fresh, and let's go and try to impose our will." HC Sean McVay made a similar comment shortly after the draft, noting that the team sees a lot of similarities between Williams and Corum.

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Williams was one of the busiest RBs in the league last year, averaging 19.0 and 4.0 targets per game. He missed four games in the middle of the season with an ankle injury and then broke a hand in the Wild Card loss to the Lions.

Williams was always a long shot to match his 2023 volume this season. The selection of Corum gives the Rams a significant upgrade on a depth chart that previously had just Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans behind Williams.

The vibes were getting out of Los Angeles so far, though, make it sound like Williams will remain the clear lead back. McVay has always preferred riding one RB. And Williams was excellent last year, ranking seventh in NFL Next Gen Stats' Rush Yards Over Expected Per Attempt and 12th in Pro Football Focus Elusive Rating among 49 qualifying RBs.

Dynasty Impact

The Corum addition obviously adds some risk to Williams' dynasty value. But this could be a buying opportunity if his owner is panicking.

Corum, meanwhile, is a bit overvalued at his 2.04 rookie-draft ADP.

Rankings Movement

Williams made just a slight move down the RB rankings after the Corum selection. He still sits seventh in the PPR RB Rankings and sixth in the half-PPR RB Rankings.

ADP Movement

Williams has started to fall into the middle or back-half of Round 2. He's a fine value there, particularly once guys like Jonathan Taylor, Saquon Barkley, Garrett Wilson, and A.J. Brown are off the board.
