Steelers RB Najee Harris has dropped weight this offseason. His trainer estimates that he's at 235 pounds now -- seven pounds lighter than his listed weight. Harris has upped his training time and cleaned up his diet.
“He’s motivated, to say the least," trainer Josh Scott said of Harris. “Much more durable, much more nimble dropping that maybe eight or 10 pounds, whatever it was, of body fat but then replacing some of that with some good, lean tissue. And that’s really shown in his movement. He’s looking really, really springy; really, really light off the ground; and more agile.”
Harris is heading into a contract year after the Steelers declined to pick up his fifth-year option. That can't hurt his motivation level.
Dropping weight tends to be good news for RB fantasy production and should especially help a guy like Harris, who has struggled to produce big plays at the NFL level. And, of course, he'll still pack plenty of power at 235 pounds.
Never an exciting fantasy pick, Harris could certainly return value at his current eighth-round best ball ADP. The Steelers figure to be one of the run-heaviest offenses in the NFL under new OC Arthur Smith. We'll see how Smith plans to divvy work between Harris and RB Jaylen Warren, but consider Harris the favorite to lead in carries and goal-line carries.
This is a big season for Harris' dynasty value. A strong campaign should land him a lead role, whether it be with the Steelers or another franchise. The former first-round pick just turned 26 in March.
But a poor 2024 season would likely find Harris met with a soft free-agent market -- and reduced volume in 2025 and beyond.
His RB24 dynasty ADP matches his spot in our updated dynasty RB rankings.
Ashton Jeanty projects as the RB1 in 2025. But is he an elite dynasty prospect? Let's dig into his film and profile to find out.
