Mike Williams to be Limited Early in Season?

Jets HC Robert Saleh suggested that WR Mike Williams might play limited snaps early this season. He's working back from a torn ACL suffered last September.

What They're Saying

"He's got a long way to go," Saleh said of Williams' rehab. "He's on the same timeline that Breece [Hall] had. They're very similar injuries, same timeframe. Speaking with Mike, he knows he's got a road to trek, but at the same time, if he does it the right way, we're very confident that we'll have them ready for Week 1."

Hall tore his ACL in late October -- about a month later than Williams' injury. Hall was activated from the PUP list in the middle of last August and was cleared by Week 1. But he didn't top a 52% snap rate in any of New York's first five games.

It sounds like the Jets might have a similar plan in mind for Williams. Limited snaps would make him unstartable in managed fantasy leagues.

Still, Williams could be useful when bye weeks start to hit. If healthy, he should easily emerge as the Jets' No. 2 WR behind Garrett Wilson. And the 6'4, 218-pounder should be a red-zone favorite for QB Aaron Rodgers, who owns a gaudy 6.2% career TD rate.

"He's a dynamic receiver," Saleh said of Williams. "We've been a big fan of his for a while. You say 50/50 ball, but it's more 70/30 when it goes up to him. He's a dynamic athlete, dynamic receiver, very confident when he goes up and gets the ball."

Williams is a fine value at his current WR55 best-ball ADP.
