The Athletic's Jon Machota highlighted Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks as one of the team's standouts in spring workouts. Cooks has shown improved chemistry with QB Dak Prescott in their second offseason together.
What They're Saying
"The connection between Brandin Cooks and Dak Prescott stood out most," Machota wrote of Dallas' spring practices. "It was a solid rapport last year at this time, but it was obvious during OTAs and minicamp that the two now have a full year working together. They were on the same page in all drills, but it particularly stood out on some deep ball throws. CeeDee Lamb is the Cowboys’ clear No. 1 wide receiver. There’s no questioning that Cooks is their No. 2. If Cooks stays healthy, he’s capable of an 800- to 1,000-yard season with double-digit touchdowns."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
We'll stay away from that beat-writer projection, but it's certainly nice to hear that Cooks is looking comfortable in the Cowboys offense.
We saw improved production from him from the first to second half of last season. Cooks averaged just 4.1 targets, 2.4 catches, 24 yards, and 0.3 TDs over his first seven regular-season games vs. 5.8 targets, 4.1 catches, 55 yards, and 0.7 TDs over his final nine. Cooks ranked 14th among WRs in PPR points from Week 10 on.
With RB Tony Pollard and WR Michael Gallup, who ranked fourth and fifth on the team in targets last year, now gone, there's room for Cooks to garner even more volume this season.
He's a solid value at his WR59 ADP.
