Roman Wilson "Week-to-Week" With Ankle Injury

Steelers WR Roman Wilson is considered "week-to-week" with the ankle injury he suffered in Tuesday's practice, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "He could miss some time, but the injury does not appear serious," Fowler adds. It's relatively good news after Wilson had to be carted back to the locker room.

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

It sounds like Wilson should be ready for the start of the regular season. But the missed camp and preseason time is bad news for the rookie's chances of earning an early-season role.

Wilson had a quiet spring but had reportedly been coming on early in camp. That momentum is halted now.

We'll see when Wilson gets back on the field. He still has a decent chance to become Pittsburgh's No. 2 WR at some point this season, but he's a long shot to be a fantasy asset early this year. That makes Wilson undraftable in most managed redraft leagues.

Other Winners & Losers

Wilson's absence gives WRs like Calvin Austin, Van Jefferson, and Quez Watkins a shot to earn bigger early-season roles. Austin has reportedly had a strong start to training camp.

But, in what figures to be a run-heavy offense with WR George Pickens and TE Pat Freiermuth as the top two targets in the passing game, it's tough to envision any of the other WRs being reliable fantasy plays.
