Browns RB D'Onta Foreman was carted off the field after being tended to by multiple trainers during a special teams drill. He took a direct blow to the head that resulted in neck pain. He was transported via helicopter to a Medical Center in Roanoke, VA for further evaluation.
Statement from the Cleveland Browns: "During practice today, Browns RB D'Onta Foreman sustained a direct blow to the head that resulted in neck pain. The Browns athletic training staff deployed their standard emergency action procedures to immobilize Foreman. He was taken to an ambulance and is being transported via helicopter to a Medical Center in Roanoke, VA to undergo further medical evaluation. Foreman had movement in all his extremities. Updated will be provided as more information is received."
This appears to be a potential scary injury for Foreman as any neck pain after a direct blow to the head can be extremely serious.
Foreman was a popular sleeper pick who was effective when he got playing time with the Bears last season. With RB Nick Chubb returning from injury, there was space for Foreman to make an impact if he could get playing time.
Foreman drew some positive reports about his athleticism and special teams ability for the Browns so far this summer. He had a chance to be the RB3 for the Browns and maybe even siphon RB2 snaps from RB Jerome Ford.
Thankfully he had movement in all of his extremities.
We will continue monitoring and update as new information is released.
