Panthers WR Xavier Legette returned to practice today after suffering a foot injury a week ago. His MRI results were negative for a fracture and it appears Legette is back and healthy.
Legette injured his foot on August 5th with some thoughts that it may be serious. After a negative MRI and likely just a bone bruise, Legette is back at practice and appears to be a full go.
Even though it was only a week, the rookie had been lagging behind WR Jonathan Mingo on the depth chart and is competing directly for playing time with the rest of a deep WR group including Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen, Terrace Marshall, Legette, and Mingo.
Being 100% for the preseason and start of the year is good news for Legette both in terms of short and long term fantasy value at the position.
He remains a late round flier in hopes Legette lives up to his exceptional athleticism and size at the position.
Legette has had a few injuries throughout his college career including some intense hamstring injuries, but this was the first foot injury of his career.
He has high upside from a dynasty perspective especially if he can beat out Jonathan Mingo at some point this season and establish himself as the "X" WR in Dave Canales' offense.
Being the position that Mike Evans played, Legette would assume that role and be able to take advantage of the opportunity.
Being healthy and back at camp should give Legette the chance to compete for playing time.
