The hamstring injury Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs suffered in Monday's practice is not believed to be serious. “I think we’re gonna be fine here," HC Dan Campbell said of Gibbs. "So, I think we’ll be good.” Insider Jordan Schultz, meanwhile, heard from a source that Gibbs "should be ready for Week 1."
Here's the full note from Schultz: "Good news on Lions Pro Bowl RB Jahmyr Gibbs. Sources say the hamstring injury he suffered is not considered significant, but the team will be very cautious with rest and rehab to make sure he’s 100% healthy. My understanding is he should be ready for Week 1 vs the Rams."
It doesn't sound like we'll see Gibbs on the field much, if at all, before the Lions start prepping for Week 1 in earnest. Their season opener is 25 days away.
Hamstring injuries are prone to setbacks, so we'll keep a close eye on Gibbs when he does get back into action. We haven't adjusted his baseline 2024 projection, but we did lower his floor projection a bit to account for the added risk.
Gibbs still sits fourth among RBs in the PPR rankings.
Detroit's No. 3 RB has become a bit more interesting with the Gibbs injury. Craig Reynolds currently holds that job, but fourth-round rookie Sione Vaki has drawn some buzz lately. He carried four times for 29 yards in the preseason opener.
We'll track that situation over the next few weeks.
We'll see if Gibbs' ADP budges from the late first round. He'd be a strong value if he slides into Round 2.
Ashton Jeanty projects as the RB1 in 2025. But is he an elite dynasty prospect? Let's dig into his film and profile to find out.
