Browns RB Nick Chubb is expected to open the season on the reserve/PUP list which would require him to miss the first four games of the season. Chubb tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus in September last year which required multiple surgeries. Draft Sharks currently projects Chubb to return to action in Week 8 of the regular season.
What They Are Saying
Adam Schefter of ESPN: "Cleveland is expected to leave Nick Chubb on the Physically Unable to Perform List, which means he is ineligible to be active during the first four games of the season, per league sources."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Chubb's injury was always going to put him in jeopardy of missing time to start the season.
Reports had been positive about his progress and ability to cut in practice, but the reserve/PUP list fits with the timeline of the injury.
It is likely that Chubb misses even more time after these four weeks are up.
We currently are projecting him back on the field in Week 8.
Not only is returning to play from this type of injury difficult, being effective when on the field is also extremely rare.
Even when Chubb ultimately returns, he is unlikely to retain the fantasy prowess that he has held for most of his career.
This sets up RB Jerome Ford to start for the Browns to start the year with newly signed RB D'Onta Foreman taking the reins as the back-up.
Projected ADP Movement
Chubb has tumbled in fantasy drafts already and this news means he is likely to fall even further.
Our current ADP Market Index has Chubb being selected in the late 7th round, and that could move into double digit rounds by the upcoming weekend.
On the other side, Ford's ADP is set to rise. Currently being selected in the early 10th round, Ford will move up past Chubb as he will be the clear starter to start the season.
We will update Chubb's timeline to return as more information becomes available.
Stay tuned.
