Jelani Woods Put on Season-Ending IR After Turf Toe Surgery

Colts TE Jelani Woods was placed on season-ending IR after having surgery for turf toe. Woods missed all of last season with a hamstring injury and now will go through two years without playing. TEs Kylen Granson and Mo Alie-Cox will replace the hole left by Woods' injury.

What They're Saying

James Boyd of The Athletic: The Colts plan to put TE Jelani Woods (toe) on season-ending IR, league sources tell The Athletic.

After missing all of last year due to repeated hamstring injuries, Woods will miss a second straight season due to injury.

He has not played since his rookie year in 2022."

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Woods tested as the most athletic TE in NFL history at the 2022 Combine, but he has not played a game since his rookie season.

Granson is likely the starting TE for the Colts for the season as an H-Back who was utilized last year in different ways. He has some red zone upside, but is only rosterable in deep leagues.

Alie-Cox, a former basketball player, continues to hold some upside, but he has never lived up to expectations.

Keep an eye on the Colts TE position to see if Anthony Richardson will utilize Granson or Alie-Cox.

Dynasty Impact

This ends Woods value in dynasty leagues.

He can sit in your IR spot if you have space, but don't be afraid to cut him if that spot is needed during the season.

Coming back after two season of no games, and trying to shake off that rust, makes it unlikely that Woods will make an impact in the league and he is likely done for the Colts.
