Just one day after Bengals HC Zac Taylor said that WR Ja'Marr Chase was expected to play Week 1, the receiver opted not to practice. "I think I probably put my foot in my mouth speaking too quickly," Taylor said afterward. "Again, this is a day-to-day situation. We'll just keep seeing it as that."

Chase had been practicing since Sunday, so it's unclear what changed over the past 24 hours. He did not speak to reporters on Wednesday.

This clearly remains a fluid situation, so stay tuned for updates.

Taylor did say on Wednesday that Chase could play in the opener even if he doesn't practice the rest of this week.

For the time being, we're not moving Chase in the WR rankings -- but that could change over the next few days.
