The Falcons have ruled LB Nate Landman out for Monday night's game against the Eagles with quad and calf injuries. The quad has been an issue since late in the preseason and limited his practice time last week. But Landman started the Week 1 loss to Pittsburgh. Landman missed all three practice days this week, so we'll have to see how he looks for Week 3 and beyond.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
The Falcons worked out three veteran non-edge LBs on Friday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. That doesn't seem to bode well for Landman's immediate outlook.
That said, the team could just be looking to add a LB to the practice squad for insurance. There's currently no one there at the position, leaving Kaden Elliss, Troy Andersen, and rookie JD Bertrand as the only healthy options.
Andersen, of course, has been one of my favorite upside LBs since the 2023 preseason. This Landman injury should at least give Andersen a one-week showcase, though we'll have to see whether Andersen gets full playing time. He split near-evenly with Landman in the opener.
I mentioned in the Week 2 IDP Hits that Landman missing time would motivate me to pick up Andersen. It would still be ideal to sit him for Week 2 and see what the Falcons do.
Rankings Movement
I did boost Andersen's playing-time projection to 80% for the Philly game, which puts him in LB4 range of the Week 2 IDP rankings.
