Vikings RB Ty Chandler edged teammate Aaron Jones 10-9 in carries for Sunday's win over the 49ers. He dramatically outproduced Jones on the ground, though, gaining 82 yards (8.2 per carry) vs. just 32 for Jones (3.6). Chandler got no receiving work, though, while Jones' 5 receptions led the team. He drew 6 targets and posted 36 receiving yards.

Jones left the game briefly for an unspecified injury. It appeared to be a lower-body issue, given that Jones tested himself by running on the sideline after exiting the blue medical tent. But Jones carried just a 4-3 carry lead into halftime.

Jones still easily beat Chandler in total playing time, 33 snaps to 19. And Jones ran far more effectively than Chandler in Week 1 ...

  • Jones vs. Giants: 14 carries, 94 yards, 6.7 yards per carry
  • Chandler: 8 carries, 17 yards, 2.1 yards per carry

His 35% playing time agains the 49ers was also nearly identical to his snap share in Week 1.

We'll see whether Chandler did enough against San Francisco to alter the RB plan. Unless Vikings coaches say otherwise, though, you should head into Week 3 viewing Jones as the continued backfield leader in both rushing and receiving.

Chandler hit Sunday available in 71% of Yahoo leagues, though, and should probably be more widely rostered than that.
