Vikings RB Aaron Jones exploded for 148 total yards in Sunday's lopsided victory over the Texans. Jones ran for 102 yards on 19 carries and posted a 5-46-1 receiving line on 6 targets. Jones ranked second on the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards for the game.
What They're Saying
Jones: "I'm having a blast. This is probably some of the most fun I've had in my career."
Jones: "This is different from anything I've been a part of. I can't put my finger on it, but it's special."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
The Vikings entered the week eighth in the league in scoring and then dropped 34 on the Texans. The overall strength of the offense can obviously only help the RB1.
And Jones filled that role even more against Houston than he did over the first two weeks.
He handled 73% of Minnesota RB rushes in Week 3 and all of the RB targets. Jones entered the game ranked just 26th in the league in opportunity share.
Did this game signal a shift to more Jones touches going forward? Or will he settle somewhere between the two extremes?
I wouldn't bet he'll finish most weeks north of 70% carry share. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Minnesota throw his way a bit less as WR Jordan Addison and TE T.J. Hockenson return from injury.
That potential makes Jones sellable if you're in good shape at RB and need help elsewhere. Minnesota's open to the season, however, makes Jones nowhere close to a "must" sell.
Other Winners & Losers
RB Ty Chandler managed just 13 yards on seven carries -- a week after racking up a 10-82 rushing day.
That marks two games among the first three in which he fell short of 20 rushing yards. This also marked his second straight game without a target.
It's clear that Chandler doesn't hold meaningful standalone fantasy value when Jones is healthy. He retains handcuff upside at least.
