Saints RB Alvin Kamara rushed 26 times in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. That tied for his third-most carries in a game for his career. Kamara's 87 rushing yards came out to just 3.3 per carry. He added 40 receiving yards on three catches (among 3 targets). Kamara's 3 receptions ranked second on the team, trailing only WR Chris Olave.
It's tough to complain about the 127 total yards, but Kamara's offense proved nowhere near as good in Week 3 as it fared the first two weeks.
It wasn't surprising to see New Orleans come down from the unsustainable efficiency of the first two games. But it was a little surprising to see the Saints tumble so far against a Philly defense that struggled over the first two weeks.
The biggest positive for Kamara in Week 3: He continued to dominate work.
Whereas lopsided victories the first two games allowed the Saints to pull him late, Kamara handled 26 of 27 RB carries against the Eagles.
He split RB targets 3-3 with Jamaal Williams but ran three times as many routes as his backfield mate (21-7).
Kamara and the Saints visit the Falcons and Chiefs the next two weeks. Neither matchup looks especially worrisome for Kamara, whose receiving role makes him fairly matchup-proof.
RB Kendre Miller will be eligible to come off IR after Week 4. We'll see if he's ready, and then whether he's headed for a worthwhile role.
