NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Panthers LB Shaq Thompson suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in Sunday's loss to the Bengals and will miss the rest of the season.

Carolina also watched LB Josey Jewell leave the game with groin and hamstring injuries. It's not yet clear how long he might be out, but that combo of injuries doesn't seem to bode well for Week 5, at least.

That could leave an already weak Panthers defense relying on third-round rookie Trevin Wallace and Claudin Cherelus, a third-year player with nine career defensive snaps (all this season).

Consider Wallace the better bet  between them to maintain a starting role through Jewell's return to action.

Dynasty Impact

Thompson turned 30 in April and is in the final year of his contract. That makes him droppable across dynasty formats.
