Saints RB Alvin Kamara mustered just 24 scoreless yards in the Week 7 loss to the Broncos. Down their starting QB, top two WRs, and multiple starting offensive linemen, the Saints offense had no chance against a quality Broncos defense. New Orleans mustered just 271 total yards and 10 points. Kamara found no running room, averaging an ugly 1.4 yards on his seven carries. He at least caught six of seven targets to help his PPR tally -- but those grabs totaled only 14 yards.
Kamara still dominated backfield work while this game was semi competitive. Seven of RB Kendre Miller's nine opportunities and two of RB Jamaal Williams' three came in the fourth quarter. Prior to that, Kamara handled 11 of 14 RB opportunities.
The problem, of course, is this incredibly banged-up Saints offense that's been held under 14 points in three of its last five games. After scoring five TDs in his first two games of the season, Kamara has just two over his last five games.
QB Derek Carr and WR Chris Olave should be back within the next couple of weeks to give this offense some life. But WR Rashid Shaheed is out for the season. And TE Taysom Hill's impending return will threaten Kamara's goal-line role.
We've likely already seen the best of Kamara this season, but his share of the backfield work means he should stay in fantasy lineups going forward. He gets a neutral draw vs. the Chargers in Week 8 before an excellent matchup against the Panthers in Week 9.
Kamara also has a nice schedule to finish the season:
It's the 9th-easiest RB schedule from Week 13 to 17.
