The Jets and Edge Haason Reddick have worked out an adjusted contract for the rest of 2024, and he'll report to the team Monday morning. That will finally end a holdout that has been going since the Eagles traded Reddick at the beginning of April.
What They're Saying
Reddick's agent Drew Rosenhaus: "We will continue to work towards a long-term extension with the Jets."
Reddick's current deal runs only through 2024.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Reddick was looking for a new contract before Philadelphia traded him, and the Eagles accepted a mere conditional third-round pick in 2026. So the Jets had to know there was risk here.
Reddick delivered 11+ sacks each of the past four seasons, with 23+ QB hits in each of his two Philly campaigns. He also turned 30 in September.
We'll see how quickly he can get into game shape and how his playing time develops. The Jets could certainly use his help in the pass rush. They currently have just three players with 2+ sacks on the season, with Edge Will McDonald the only guy over 2.5.
Week 8 holds an upside matchup at New England. The Patriots have allowed the league's highest pressure rate so far, according to Pro Football Reference. Houston -- the Week 9 opponent -- ranks fifth-highest.
Let's hope Jets coaches tell us whether Reddick will play enough in either game to be a factor.
Dynasty Impact
Our aging-curve data says that DL production historically falls sharply through the age-31, 32, and 33 seasons. So we'll see just how long a contract Reddick and the Jets land on. But it'll be tough to expect production over the next few years similar to Reddick's recent results.
