Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt handled 73% of the team's RB rushes in Sunday's win over the 49ers. That gave him 22 attempts for 78 yards (3.5 per carry) and 2 TDs. Hunt also saw increased usage in the passing game. His 53% route share marked a season high and beat Samaje Perine (34.4%) for the second straight game.
Hunt's 2 receptions tallied just 5 yards against the Niners. And he's averaging a just-OK 4.0 yards per carry, after going for 3.0 and 3.8 the past two seasons.
That matches Isiah Pacheco's 4.0 yards per carry before going down this season. But he finished the previous two years at 4.6 and 4.9.
Pacheco beats Hunt on youth and explosiveness and probably reclaims at least most of his role (if not the whole thing) once back to full health.
But it's not yet clear when that will be.
