Browns QB Jameis Winston will remain the team's starter going forward, HC Kevin Stefanski said Monday. Any other reaction to Winston's strong Week 8 showing wouldn't have made sense. Winston smoked the Ravens for 334 yards and three TDs in the upset win. Other than a lost fumble late in the first half and a bad throw late in the second that should have been picked off, Winston was excellent.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Winston capitalized on a pristine Week 8 spot against a pass funnel Ravens defense missing two starting CBs. There's a good chance it goes down as his most productive outing of the season.
But Winston will have more useful fantasy days thanks to his aggressive style of play and a pass-leaning Cleveland offense.
He gets a neutral matchup against the Chargers in Week 9, followed by a Week 10 bye. The schedule after that is tough, including four straight negative matchups from Weeks 11 through 14.
Winston should obviously be owned in all 2-QB and superflex leagues at this point. Consider him a matchup-dependent spot starter in 1-QB leagues.
Other Winners & Losers
Cleveland's pass-catchers all gain upside for as long as Winston is under center. TE David Njoku is a top-8 option the rest of the way, while Cedric Tillman and Jerry Jeudy have a chance at WR3-level production. Even Elijah Moore is worth a look in deeper PPR leagues.
