Chiefs HC Andy Reid said Monday that WR DeAndre Hopkins should be ready to play more vs. the Bucs on Monday night. He ran a route on just 33% of pass plays in his debut last week, catching two of three targets for 29 yards.
What They're Saying
Reid on Hopkins: “He did a nice job in the run game, did a nice job in the pass game — had the big third down catch right off the bench and did well with that. He’s a good football player. Being able to fit in more will even be better, I think, as we go forward here. He was chomping at the bit on the sideline wanting to play and at the same time, knowing that he didn’t have all of it down so there was a patience there. But he was into the game and I think you’ll be able to see more this next game.”
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
WR Amari Cooper, who's in a similar situation after his trade to Buffalo, went from a 34% route rate in his debut to 66% last week. Expect a similar jump for Hopkins on Monday night.
With a matchup against the Bucs' 28th-ranked WR defense, Hopkins sits in low-end WR3 territory in our Week 9 Rankings.
