Browns RB Nick Chubb carried 20 times for 59 yards and two TDs in Thursday night's win over the Steelers. He caught his only target for one yard. Chubb got Cleveland on the board with a two-yard score in the second quarter. Then he punched in another two-yard TD with under a minute to go to give the Browns a 24-19 lead. In between, Chubb struggled to get much going. His longest run of the night went for just seven yards.
It was good to see the Browns willing to give Chubb 20 carries coming off last year's multi-ligament knee injury. And the fantasy production in this one was certainly nice.
But Chubb clearly still isn't back to pre-injury form. He's missing burst and power, averaging 3.0 yards per carry vs. the Steelers and 3.0 yards per carry through his five games this season.
He also continues to do very little in the passing game, totaling three catches on seven targets in five games. Chubb trailed RB Jerome Ford 48% to 34% in route rate vs. Pittsburgh.
The two-TD game presents a prime selling opportunity on Chubb. With the fifth-toughest RB schedule from Weeks 13-17, Chubb looks like no better than a RB3 in PPR and half-PPR leagues. He might scratch out RB2 value in non-PPR.
