Isaac Guerendo Shines in Lead Back Role Despite Late Injury

49ers RB Isaac Guerendo got his first start and did not disappoint. The rookie ran 15 times for 78 yards while also catching both of his targets for 50 yards. He scored twice on the ground. Guerendo injured his foot late in the game. If that doesn’t cause him to miss time, he has earned the starting role.

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Back-up RB Patrick Taylor had only seven of the backfield touches while third string RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn had two. 65.38% of the backfield touches for Guerendo is pretty solid for a rookie in his first start, especially with the injury. If he continues to get that usage, Guerendo could be a fringe RB1 the rest of the season.

Guerendo will have a neutral match-up against the Rams next week to kick off the fantasy playoffs. After that is a positive match-up against the Dolphins. For the fantasy championship he faces a negative match-up against the Lions.
