49ers RB Christian McCaffrey told reporters Monday that he's "definitely close" to 100% recovered from his knee injury. He suffered a right PCL injury in Week 13 that ended his season. McCaffrey believes he could have played if San Francisco had made the playoffs, though, and expects to be ready for OTAs. He also said that his Achilles tendonitis has "100% calmed down" and won't be an issue next season.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
This is a lot of optimism from a guy who played just three full games this season. McCaffrey averaged 14.3 carries and 5.3 targets across those outings but mustered only 3.5 yards per carry. His 2.7 yards after contact per attempt was his lowest mark since 2020.
McCaffrey turns 29 in June and has amassed over 2,000 NFL touches. He'll carry a wide range of outcomes and be one of the biggest risk/reward picks in 2025 fantasy drafts. We'll see where his ADP settles.
Dynasty Impact
It's tough to imagine McCaffrey providing much long-term dynasty value. But he could be an interesting buy-low target right now for contending teams. He still has the potential to produce as a top-10 fantasy RB on a per-game basis for another season or two.
