The Vikings have agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with RB Aaron Jones, including $13 million in guarantees, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Jones joined the Vikings on a one-year deal after the Packers released him last offseason. He handled 67.5% of the team's RB rushes and tied for third on the team in targets, trailing WR Justin Jefferson and WR Jordan Addison.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Jones set career highs in total carries and carries per game (15.0) for Minnesota, in the year in which he turned 30 (in early December). He didn't miss any games but did leave a couple early.
That he's getting a two-year deal after turning 30 -- at a higher annual average than last offseason's contract -- says the Vikings believe he has plenty left.
However, they also likely realize that Jones could stand to face less work over the next two years. His career-high carries per game also tied for 13th-most in the league. Cam Akers ranked second on the team at just 5.3 carries per contest.
Minnesota should be looking to improve on that No. 2 RB option. And this year's draft class presents plenty of opportunities to do so.
Jones checked in just 20th in PPR points per game last season and should at least be a solid bet to land in the same range in 2025.
Dynasty Impact
Now that he's heading into the season in which he'll turn 31, Jones stands as a potential dynasty sell at any point that makes sense for your roster.
Of course, the $10 million annual average on his new deal says Minnesota plans to give Jones plenty of touches over the next two years. So don't undersell.
Best Ball Impact
Jones sits just 23rd in best ball ADP as of this writing. Don't be surprised if that rises now that he has a contract for 2025.
Low-RB2 range will be fine for targeting Jones. Just beware if he climbs much higher than RB20.
