The Seahawks signed WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a one-year deal worth "up to" $5.5 million. He joins a WR corps that shed both D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett over the last week, giving Valdes-Scantling a shot to earn significant snaps.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Valdes-Scantling opened his career playing with Aaron Rodgers and then Patrick Mahomes -- yet never topped 43 yards per game in any of those six seasons. He hooked up with Josh Allen this past year but was cut by the Bills in October.
MVS latched on with the Saints for the final two thirds of the season and flashed with lines of 3-109-2, 2-87-1, and 2-36-1 in consecutive weeks. He averaged 2.1 catches and 48.1 yards across his eight games in New Orleans.
Valdes-Scantling is following OC Klint Kubiak to Seattle, which can't hurt his chances of earning a significant role for a Seahawks team that lost 1,591 offensive snaps with the departures of Metcalf and Lockett. We'll see what else the team does at WR this offseason.
Even if Valdes-Scantling winds up in a starting role, though, we wouldn't bet on any kind of fantasy breakout considering how his career has panned out so far.
