Buccaneers GM Jason Licht said this week that WR Chris Godwin is on track in his recovery from last October's dislocated ankle. Licht didn't give a precise timetable for Godwin's return to the field but expects him to be ready for the start of the season.
What They're Saying
Licht on Godwin's progress: “I’m feeling very good about it. He’s hitting all of his milestones. He’s hitting all of his markers. He’s where he’s supposed to be. We’re not going to try to set any records for the fastest rehab because we want to make sure everything’s done right and just get him out there for the regular season. Right now, we’re taking it week by week. I’ve said this time and time before, but I would never bet against Chris.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
If Godwin is on track for the start of the 2025 campaign, he's significantly undervalued at his current WR32 best-ball ADP. He was sitting 13th among WRs in PPR points per game last year before going down with the ankle injury. And his usage was even better: fifth among WRs in expected PPR points per game on 8.9 targets per game and a 26.5% target share.
We'll keep a close eye on Godwin's progress -- but Licht's comments and the three-year, $66 million deal the Bucs gave Godwin earlier this month suggests there isn't much concern.
