The Browns opened Round 2 of the NFL Draft by taking UCLA LB Carson Schwesinger. He spent just one season starting for the Bruins after arriving as a walk-on. That one season found him earning first-team All-American status with a big statistical season. That included an FBS-leading 90 solo tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 2 INTs, and 3 passes defensed.
At 6'2.5 and 240 pounds, Schwesinger looks like Cleveland's new middle LB. He joins a LB corps that was led last season by Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah ... until a neck injury prematurely ended his season.
JOK's status for 2025 has remained in question this offseason. Schwesinger's arrival doesn't necessarily tell us anything about Owusu-Koramoah's outlook, as he primarily plays the weak side. The two could team up and each play near full time.
That said, it's possible the JOK uncertainty helped motivate Cleveland's selection.
Schwesinger looks like a good bet to be useful in tackle-friendly IDP formats and could become a stud there.
This draft capital combines with the stats and strong college tape to make Schwesinger a top IDP option in your dynasty rookie drafts. He might even be the top guy in tackle-leaning formats.
