Week 13 FanDuel Tournament Picks

By Kevin English | Updated on Sat, 02 Dec 2023 . 9:50 AM EST

NFL DFS Picks for Tournament and GPP Play

Quarterback

Brock Purdy, 49ers ($7,800) at Eagles

Ownership projection: 7%

The 49ers enter the weekend tied for third in implied team total (25.25).

Purdy looks to be in fine form, boosted by a healthy supporting cast. He’s reached 270 passing yards in four of his last five matchups. He’s hit 3 passing scores in two of his past three.

Also consider: Sam Howell

Running Back

Jaylen Warren, Steelers ($6,500) vs. Cardinals

The Cardinals have given up 20+ FD points to enemy RBs in five straight. Their thinned-out unit ranks last in Pro Football Focus’ rush defense grade.

Sure, the timeshare with Najee Harris isn’t ideal. But an improved O-line (11th in adjusted line yards) and a larger receiving role (3+ catches in four of his past five) help alleviate workload concerns.

Zack Moss, Colts ($5,600) at Titans

Ownership projection: 36%

Most times, I’d avoid a RB at such a bloated ownership number.

But this week, there are some high-priced studs that garner consideration for tournaments. So I’ll take the discounted workhorse here, who already posted 23-165-2 against Tennessee back in Week 5.

Also consider: Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler, Derrick Henry, De'Von Achane

Wide Receiver

Jaylen Waddle, Dolphins ($7,800) at Commanders

Ownership projection: 16%

Waddle sits eighth this week in WR ceiling projection. He’s fifth in $/point, suggesting there’s a risk-reward calculation in favor of the Dolphin.

The matchup certainly helps. Over the past five weeks, only the Eagles have allowed more fantasy points per game to WRs.

Deebo Samuel, 49ers ($7,300) at Eagles

Ownership projection: 10%

Let’s see if Samuel can back up his smack talk.

His matchup looks favorable vs. the Eagles secondary. Per ESPN, the Eagles have allowed the second-most fantasy points to outside WRs; the most to the slot. Deebo’s spent 60.8% of his pass snaps out wide, per PFF, and 32.1% out of the slot.

Brandon Aiyuk makes for a strong stack, too. He’s just $700 more than Samuel.

Terry McLaurin, Commanders ($6,500) vs. Dolphins

The Dolphins defense ranks first in pass rate over expected against over the past month (7%). Washington and their pass-heavy approach should follow suit, particularly with a high-scoring offense on the other side. The Fins rank second league-wide at 30.8 PPG.

Now, McLaurin hasn’t offered much of a ceiling in 2023. But I don’t think that means he’s incapable of exceeding expectations in the right matchup. Volume has clearly remained favorable with 7+ targets in seven straight.

Also consider: Tyreek Hill, A.J. Brown, Courtland Sutton, Trey Palmer (if Chris Godwin is ruled out)

Tight End

Taysom Hill, Saints ($6,500) vs. Lions

Ownership projection: 4%

The Saints will be without Michael Thomas and Rashid Shaheed. Chris Olave (concussion) participated fully in practice on Friday but is listed as questionable.

Given the injuries, Hill figures to see a boosted workload. And there’s nothing wrong with the matchup vs. Detroit. The Lions have surrendered 38, 26, and 29 points following a Week 9 bye. New Orleans is currently implied for a decent 21.25 points.

Also consider: George Kittle

Defense

Falcons ($4,700) vs. Jets

Also consider: Titans
