Chargers GM Joe Horitz suggested Saturday that RB Najee Harris (eye) could be ready for Week 1. "Najee's doing great, going through all the medical processes, but he's on track and I think he should be able to go, hopefully Week 1," Horitz said during the broadcast of the Chargers' preseason finale.
Consider us skeptical. Harris has done nothing but walk laps and do some light jogging during training camp. Perhaps he's done more behind the scenes, but it's tough to imagine that he's in football shape. Not to mention the fact that he's playing in a brand new offense.
Harris remains on the non-football injury list with 13 days to go before the Chargers open their season against the Chiefs. We'll continue to keep an eye on his status but are not projecting him to play Week 1.
Harris is no more than a late-round flier in fantasy drafts, at least until we see him playing football.
