WR Parker Washington led the Jaguars across playing-time and receiving categories for Sunday's narrow victory over the Raiders. His nine targets beat his nearest teammate by two. Washington's 8 catches led No. 2 Travis Etienne by three. And his 90 receiving yards finished 35 ahead of the next Jag (Brian Thomas Jr.). Washington also played 70 snaps, trailing only QB Trevor Lawrence among skill-position players. His 90% route rate also marked a team high, beating Thomas by seven routes.
It's certainly worth noting that Thomas lost some late-game time to an ankle injury, and WR Dyami Brown left early with a concussion.
Washington ran as the primary slot WR against the Raiders, with Travis Hunter -- the previous leader in that category -- out. And according to PFF, the Jaguars stayed primarily in 3-WR sets. Even after Thomas and Brown left, Austin Trammell and Tim Jones stepped in for significant playing time.
We'll see whether that's a one-game, matchup-based move. But it was also Jacksonville's first game since a Week 8 bye.
Even if the Jags run more 2-WR sets going forward, though, Washington has spent more than 60% of his pass snaps outside over the past two seasons. Washington has also seen 19 targets over the past two games. Only Hunter beat him in targets last time out.
Washington and the Jags get a bad matchup with Houston in Week 10, and we'll have to see about the injury situations for the other Jacksonville receivers (plus the approaching return of TE Brenton Strange from IR).
But Washington's at least worth a look on waivers in PPR leagues of 12+ teams this week.
