Eagles RB Saquon Barkley logged a season-high 26 carries in Sunday night's win over the Lions. But he turned that into a mere 83 yards (3.2 per attempt), adding 1 catch for 7 yards among two targets. That followed Barkley tying his previous carry high at 22 in the Week 10 win at Green Bay. Barkley, of course, managed just 2.7 yards per rush in that contest. And it's not clear how much of his Sunday night workload was specifically planned pregame.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Barkley watched the Eagles' first possession include four official pass attempts, a Jalen Hurts scramble and a Tank Bigsby rush (for 5 yards). There was also a deep target to Barkley, but that fell incomplete and then got wiped out by a Philly holding penalty.
He got the ball once on the second possession, which starting at Detroit's 11-yard line. That carry came on second and long -- after another pass -- and gained no yardage.
Barkley finally got the ball to open a drive the third time Philadelphia took the field and picked up 14 yards. Barkley rushed two more times on that possession but got stuffed on third-and-1 (with an iffy play call) to force a punt.
The RB opened two of the remaining four possessions in the first half and hit the break with 12 carries to Bigsby's three -- but just 32 yards (2.7 per rush). He nearly scored late in the second quarter but touched down just short of the goal line. (That, of course, produced a Tush Push TD on the next play.)
Barkley carried 14 more times in the second half vs. 10 Eagles pass attempts.
Frankly, the pregame rushing plan doesn't really matter, because the run game's still not working. And RT Lane Johnson's foot injury won't help, especially if it costs him further game time. C Cam Jurgens also got hurt late in the game, so we'll see about his status.
Matchups About to Improve
Philly's continued offensive shortcomings are bad news, particularly with no discernible improvement coming out of the Week 9 bye. But there's good news ahead.
The Eagles get the second-best RB strength of schedule the rest of the way, starting with a Dallas D that's been the third-best scoring matchup for the position.
That plus Barkley's continued heavy usage should be enough to salvage a poor fantasy season for the first-round pick.
