Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Panthers on Saturday activated DE Brian Burns and LB Shaq Thompson from the COVID list. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports both will play Sunday against the Saints.
The Panthers on Wednesday place EDGE Haason Reddick on the COVID list. The timing figures to knock him out for Sunday's game against the Saints. He joins DE Brian Burns and LB Shaq Thompson there, with backup DE Marquis Haynes also on the list. We'll see if any among the earlier 3 can make it back for the game.
Panthers DE Brian Burns has tested positive for COVID. In addition, the Panthers sent players home Monday after what HC Matt Rhule called a "somewhat significant" number of positives, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. We'll see who else lands on the COVID list ahead of the Week 17 visit to New Orleans. We'll also see whether Burns has time to make it back from the list before Sunday.
Panthers DE Brian Burns (ankle) is active for today's game against the Cardinals. He finished the week with a full Friday practice and should be good to go for IDP lineups.
Panthers DE Brian Burns (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. He progressed throughout the week, from missing Wednesday's practice to being limited Thursday and then a full Friday workout. We'll check Burns' status Sunday around 2:30 p.m. ET, when the inactives come out.
Panthers DE Brian Burns left Sunday's loss to the Patriots with right ankle injury. Burns initially left in the 1st quarter after QB Mac Jones tugged him down by the ankle following a Jones fumble. Burns returned from that but later left with an issue in the same ankle. Teammate Haason Reddick said after the game that Burns told him the ankle would be fine, according to ESPN's David Newton.
Panthers LB Shaq Thompson (foot) is active for today's game against the Falcons. He hasn't played since Week 4 because of the foot injury. CB Stephon Gilmore is also off the PUP and set to make his debut for what should be an improved Carolina defense.
Panthers LB Shaq Thompson (foot) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons. He put in limited practices all week after missing the previous game. It sounds like Thompson expects to be ready, but we'll check his status Sunday morning.
The Panthers have ruled LB Shaq Thompson (foot) out for Sunday's game against the Giants. That leaves Jermaine Carter to lead Carolina LBs in playing time.
Following Wednesday morning reports that the Patriots were releasing CB Stephon Gilmore, the Panthers swooped in to get him for a 2023 third-round pick. The veteran corner must remain on the PUP list through 6 weeks for a quad injury. Beyond that, though, trading for his big contract (about $5.8 million left this year) says that Carolina plans to start Gilmore. That begs the question of whether C.J. Henderson -- acquired from Jacksonville in another recent trade -- will have room to enter the lineup. The Panthers lost CB Jaycee Horn to a foot injury, but Donte Jackson has been holding down the other side. None is likely to be much of an IDP factor, though, so that question doesn't matter too much for fantasy football purposes. Overall, we'd have to say Carolina has enhanced a unit that has started 2021 well.
Panthers LB Shaq Thompson suffered a foot injury in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys and is "expected to miss some time," according to The Athletic. Thompson played 93% of the snaps, so the injury must have occurred late. Jermaine Carter checked in next among non-edge LBs at 66% playing time and figures to lead that group while Thompson is out. Carter becomes a decent Week 5 waiver pickup for IDP leagues.
