Christian Watson Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hamstring) missed practice again on Thursday. He's a long shot to play vs. the Falcons this weekend and should be on fantasy benches.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. He was spotted doing some rehab work off to the side at the beginning of the session. But fantasy owners shouldn't be counting on Watson returning for Sunday's game vs. the Falcons. We'll see if he's able to practice tomorrow.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hamstring) told reporters on Monday that he's not sure he'll be ready for Week 2. He at least said that he doesn't believe a trip to IR is necessary. He added that the hamstring injury is to the same right leg as last year but added, “they’re all a little different” and it’s “not the same thing, not in the same spot," per ESPN's Rob Demovsky. We'll track Watson's progress throughout the week.

Packers WR Romeo Doubs hauled in a pair of receiving TDs in Week 1 vs. the Bears. The second-year wideout only mustered 4 catches on 5 targets for 26 receiving yards in the victory, though fantasy managers aren’t too picky about that when a player finds the end zone twice. We’ll see how Doubs fares once teammate Christian Watson (hamstring) returns to the lineup, though preseason reports early in the summer suggested that Love and Doubs built a solid rapport in OTAs. Will it continue in Week 2 vs. the Falcons? We would be remiss to exclude the efforts of TE Luke Musgrave, a player who caught 3 of 4 targets for 50 yards in his NFL debut. Congrats to the rookie.

Packers HC Matt LaFleur labeled WR Christian Watson "week-to-week" with his hamstring injury but said he doesn't think it will be a "3- or 4-week thing," according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. Watson has already been ruled out for Week 1, and it sounds like we should consider him questionable at best for Week 2.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hamstring) is out for Sunday's opener vs. the Bears. He didn't practice all week, leaving his availability for Week 2 and beyond uncertain. We'll track his status when Green Bay gets back to work next week.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hamstring) missed practice again on Thursday. At this point, he looks unlikely to play vs. the Bears this weekend. We'll see if Watson is able to get on the field tomorrow.

Packers WRs Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs missed Wednesday's practice with hamstring injuries. Doubs has been sidelined for close to two weeks now, but it's unclear when Watson got hurt. Their absences vs. the Bears this weekend would leave rookies Jayden Reed and Luke Musgrave as Green Bay's top two pass-catchers -- and likely mean heavy doses of RBs Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon.

Packers HC Matt LaFleur praised WR Christian Watson for his growth in Year 2. "He just seems like a much more confident player and I think we saw that kind of take shape last year, about halfway through the season," LaFleur said. "You gotta remember… I think any time you're a young player and you miss all of training camp essentially, that's tough. That's difficult, so just him being healthy, he had a really good offseason and just his knowledge with our offense, he is one of the most intelligent players that I've ever been around.” (Note: Watson missed most of the ’22 camp following offseason knee surgery.) Now healthy, the 24-year-old brings enticing fantasy upside at a current ADP of WR25.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky named Packers WR Romeo Doubs the team's surprise offseason standout. "Doubs has seemingly become Jordan Love's go-to guy," Demovsky writes. "Whether it's in scripted team periods or move-the-ball drills like the two-minute simulation, Doubs has been targeted time and again." It's worth remembering that Doubs was awesome last preseason, with most of his production coming from Love. And while his rookie season wasn't as impressive as teammate Christian Watson's, Doubs got off to a solid start before a midseason high-ankle sprain got in the way. With rookie Jayden Reed joining Doubs and Watson, this young Packers WR corps will be worth monitoring closely in training camp and preseason.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) logged limited practice all week and doesn't carry an official injury designation ahead of Week 18 vs. the Lions. Battling through a hip injury, Watson managed just 1 catch on 5 targets and a 60% route rate last week. He has an awesome matchup on Sunday night vs. Detroit's 26th-ranked WR defense. It's a little tough to trust him in lineups considering the mixed bag of practice results this week. Consider the rookie a low-end WR2.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) logged limited participation in practice again on Thursday. The rookie was able to beat this same ailment and suit up last week. We'll know more tomorrow about his status in anticipation of Week 18 vs. the Lions.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) only managed to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. The rookie managed to suit up last week despite this ailment, but we'll keep an eye on his status just in case. Check back for updates on Watson ahead of Week 18 vs. the Lions.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Vikings. He got in just a limited practice on Friday and was reportedly a game-time decision, so it’s safe to assume that the rookie won’t be at 100%. Consider him a risk/reward WR3.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) "will test his injury pre-game to see if he can play vs. the Vikings," ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Watson only got in a limited practice on Friday this week and "didn’t take any live repetitions," according to Schefter. Watson will obviously carry elevated risk if he ends up giving it a go. We'll get Green Bay's inactives around 3 pm ET on Sunday.

Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) logged limited practice participation on Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 17's game vs. the Vikings. It's certainly encouraging to see the rookie get in some work after not practicing on Wednesday or Thursday. Still, it's tough to say fantasy managers should expect him to play. Watson would be in the WR3 conversation if he does suit up in a great spot against a Vikings defense that ranks as the best matchup for opposing WRs in adjusted fantasy points allowed this season. The "didn't practice all week before Friday" part is where we get hung up. Prepare to make other plans for your roster on Sunday.
