Indianapolis Colts Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Colts have downgraded LB E.J. Speed (knee) to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. This is a surprising turn after Speed advanced to a full practice Friday. Jaylon Carlies has run as Indy's third LB and figures to see his role elevated. The rookie hasn't made more than 2 solo tackles or 4 total tackles in a game yet, though. There's IDP upside -- especially against a Tyler Huntley-led Dolphins offense. But there's also risk that Carlies doesn't take on Speed's full role. Segun Olubi and Grant Stuard are other options. Neither has played a defensive snap yet this season.

Colts CB Kenny Moore II (hip, shoulder) is active for today's game against the Titans. He missed the past two but should be ready for usual IDP usage this week.

Colts CB Kenny Moore II is questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans. But he appears on track to play. Moore progressed to a full practice Friday after missing the previous two games while dealing with hip and shoulder injuries. We'll see about his status over the weekend. Edge Kwity Paye (quad) also practiced in full Friday and is off the week's final injury report. That means he's ready to return after also missing the past two games. Both head toward a high-upside matchup with Tennessee.

The Colts have placed DT DeForest Buckner on IR after MRI confirmed a high-ankle sprain, according to Nate Atkins of the Indianapolis Star. That means Buckner will miss at least the next four games. The veteran had missed just one game because of injury through Week 2 of his ninth season (plus one more for a positive COVID test).

Colts DT DeForest Buckner played just 10 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Packers before leaving with a sprained right ankle. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the injury is "expected to make him a long-shot for next week." Indianapolis hosts the Bears on Sunday.

Colts DT DeForest Buckner (back) is active for today's game against the Packers. The Colts D will also have Edge Kwity Paye (questionable, hamstring) but miss S Julian Blackmon, who was ruled out earlier in the week. The matchup with Packers backup QB Malik Willis is driving the strength of this matchup for the Indy team defense more than any individual player.

The Colts made Edge Laiatu Latu the first defensive pick of the NFL Draft with the 15th selection of Round 1. Latu had to medically retire from football in the middle of his college career because of a neck injury but returned to close out a highly productive run. He racked up 33.5 tackles for loss and 23.5 sacks across two seasons at UCLA. Latu then delivered a 95th-percentile speed score at 6’5, 259 pounds at the Scouting Combine. He could compete for starter-level snaps as a rookie with the Colts but won’t be a lock for such a role. Indy sports Kwity Paye, Samson Ebukam, and Dayo Odeyingbo at the position.

Colts CB Kenny Moore II (back) graduated to a full practice Wednesday. He started the week with a limited Tuesday workout after missing last Sunday's win over the Raiders. It looks like Moore should return for this Saturday's clash with the Texans. He made a decent 6 tackles (including 5 solos and 1 tackle for loss) against Houston back in Week 2. You can find Moore in our Week 18 DB rankings.

Colts CB Kenny Moore (back) is inactive for today's game against the Raiders. That leaves Indy without two starting DBs, after S Julian Blackmon recently landed on IR with a shoulder injury. That improves the matchup for Raiders WRs, but QB Aidan O'Connell keeps the group from being exciting.

The Colts have waived LB Shaquille Leonard. The veteran LB's playing time has been down vs. previous seasons, but he played at least 69% of the snaps in seven of his nine appearances -- including Indy's last game. Leonard played poorly in that contest, though. And for the season, Pro Football Focus has him at the highest missed-tackle rate of his career. Leonard still figures to catch on elsewhere -- likely after he clears waivers so that the new team doesn't have to pay the rest of his sizable contract. We'll see whether the 28-year-old can land somewhere with a path to full playing time. His departure should elevate E.J. Speed to No. 2 LB behind MLB Zaire Franklin.

Colts Edge Kwity Paye left Sunday's win over the Patriots with a hamstring injury. He's fortunate to get a Week 11 bye. We'll see about his status heading into Week 12.

Colts LB Zaire Franklin (knee) is active for today's game against the Patriots. Play him as usual in your IDP lineups.

Colts LB Zaire Franklin (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots. He appears to be trending toward returning after missing last week's game, though. Franklin sat out Wednesday but returned to a limited Thursday workout and then practiced in full Friday. We'll check his status Sunday. The Colts have ruled CB JuJu Brents (quad) out for the second straight game.

The Colts have downgraded LB Zaire Franklin to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Panthers for the knee injury that kept him out of practice all week. That should leave Shaquille Leonard and E.J. Speed as the top two LBs for Indy in this game. Check our Week 9 LB rankings to see how high each has risen.

The Colts have ruled CB JuJu Brents (quad) out for Sunday's game against the Panthers. It'll be the second straight game he has missed. Undrafted rookie Tony Brown took his spot in the lineup, joining CB Jaylon Jones and slot CB Kenny Moore. Moore should be the only one in starter consideration for most IDP leagues.

Colts LB Zaire Franklin missed his third straight practice Friday with a knee injury. Mike Chappell of Fox 59 in Indianapolis reports that Franklin will be a game-time decision. Unfortunately, that game carries a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. So we might not know Franklin's status until after the first set of Sunday games has begun. On top of that, Franklin figures to carry some re-injury risk even if active. It'll be scary to sit fantasy's No. 2 scoring LB (in most formats) for anyone if he's active. But we're moving Franklin down the Week 9 LB rankings for those risk factors. E.J. Speed would likely see full or near-full playing time if Franklin goes inactive.

Colts LB Zaire Franklin missed his second Thursday with a knee injury he sustained in Sunday's loss to the Saints. He returned quickly, though, and missed just two of Indy's defensive snaps for the game. That makes his practice absences a bit surprising. Friday should tell us whether they were more maintenance days of if Franklin is in danger of missing Sunday's clash with the Panthers. E.J. Speed would likely pick up more playing time if Zaire Franklin can't go and makes sense as a stash right now in deeper IDP leagues.

The Colts have ruled LB Shaquille Leonard (groin) and Edge Kwity Paye (concussion) out for Sunday's game against the Titans. Leonard has fallen way down our rest-of-season IDP rankings and is droppable in many leagues. Paye's absence comes as no surprise after concussion symptoms arose after Week 4. E.J. Speed has passed Leonard in regular playing time and becomes a more attractive option with Leonard out. Paye's absence leaves snaps for Samson Ebukam and Dayo Odeyingbo.

Colts Edge Kwity Paye suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Rams. He didn't leave the contest but developed symptoms afterward. We'll watch his status this week, but landing in the protocol nearly always means missing at least one game. Edge Dayo Odeyingbo played a season-high 59% of the snaps in Week 4 and delivered the biggest stat line of his young career: 7 tackles (5 solo), 1.5 sacks, 4 QB hits, 1 forced fumble and 1 pass deflection. Odeyingbo should see at least similar playing time against the Titans in Week 6 and carries intriguing upside. The third-year player has just 7 career sacks across 31 games. But he has tallied 1.5 sacks or more three times in his past eight outings, dating back to last year.

Colts DT DeForest Buckner (groin, back) is active for today's game against the Rams. He likely belongs in your IDP lineup.
