J.J. McCarthy Struggles to Pass Again, Doesn't Save it with Rushing

        11:39pm UTC 11/16/25

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy managed just 150 passing yards, with 1 TD and 2 INTs in Sunday's loss to Chicago. He completed 16 of 32 attempts against a Bears D that entered the week ranked 26th in pass DVOA and still missing top CB Jaylon Johnson. It was McCarthy's fourth game with less than 160 passing yards among five outings this season. He now has 6 TD passes vs. 8 INTs.

J.J. McCarthy Ready For Week 11

        9:13pm UTC 11/14/25

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (right hand) is not listed on the final injury report. He was limited in Wednesday’s practice with what sounds like a laceration to the top of his throwing hand but got in full workouts on Thursday and Friday. We’re not expecting McCarthy to be impacted vs. the Bears this weekend.

        J.J. McCarthy A Full-Go Thursday

        10:56pm UTC 11/13/25

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (right hand) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice. Based on HC Kevin O'Connell's comments yesterday, it sounds like McCarthy is dealing with a laceration to the top of his throwing hand. It shouldn't be an issue in Sunday's game vs. the Bears.

J.J. McCarthy Limited Wednesday With Throwing Hand Issue

        1:46am UTC 11/13/25

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (right hand) was limited in Wednesday's practice. The fact that he was out there at all this early in the week should have him on track to play vs. the Bears on Sunday. But a QB with an issue with his throwing hand is always worth monitoring closely. McCarthy is only in play in 2-QB and superflex leagues this week, despite the plus matchup against Chicago's 30th-ranked QB defense.

J.J. McCarthy Throws A Lot More ... and It Doesn't Go Well

        9:29pm UTC 11/9/25

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy averaged just 22 pass attempts across his first three starts this season. That vaulted to 42 attempts in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. McCarthy completed just 20 of those throws (47.6%) for 248 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs. He added 48 yards on five rushes, leading Minnesota in ground yards for the game.

Aaron Jones Jr. Resurrects His Fantasy Life But Still Shows Red Flags

        4:44am UTC 11/3/25

Vikings RB Aaron Jones went 9-78-0 on the ground while hauling in both his targets for 20 yards. Though he didn’t score a TD, Jones’ 8.7 yards per carry offers a glimmer of hope for his fantasy future. But that was propped up a bit by a 31-yard scamper. Unfortunately, his split with Jordan Mason continues to crush both players’ fantasy values. Mason went 10-36-0 on the ground, catching his only target for a yard.

J.J. McCarthy Ready For Week 9

        7:25pm UTC 10/31/25

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) put in a full week of practice and is off the final injury report. He’ll start Sunday’s game vs. the Lions. McCarthy played well in one of eight quarters to open the season. We’ll see if he can get rolling coming off the extended absence, but he can’t be trusted as more than a low-end QB2 in fantasy lineups. McCarthy also adds a bit more downside to WRs Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.

J.J. McCarthy "Ready To Go" For Week 9

        12:10am UTC 10/30/25

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He took all the first-team reps, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. "I'm ready to go," McCarthy said after practice. "I feel like myself again. I feel like I have those mobility things that I was concerned about going into last week and the prior weeks. So yeah, ready to go." McCarthy returns from a six-game absence as an 8.5-point underdog in Detroit. He'd be a shaky start even in 2-QB and superflex leagues.

Carson Wentz Done for Season with Left Shoulder Injury

        9:51pm UTC 10/27/25

Vikings QB Carson Wentz will miss the rest of the season with a left shoulder injury that needs surgery, according to multiple reports. Wentz originally suffered the injury on Oct. 5 and has since been visibly bothered by it at points in every start.

Carson Wentz To Start Week 8

        7:08pm UTC 10/21/25

Vikings QB Carson Wentz will start Thursday night's game vs. the Chargers, HC Kevin O'Connell announced Tuesday. QB J.J. McCarthy "is not there yet" with his ankle, McCarthy said. The second-year QB was never likely to return on this short week, but we're tentatively expecting him back for Week 9.

Carson Wentz Will Start Week 7

        7:24pm UTC 10/17/25

Vikings QB Carson Wentz will start this weekend’s game vs. the Eagles, HC Kevin O’Connell announced Friday. QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) was limited in practice this week but will be the emergency third QB for this game. It sounds like Minnesota wants him to get in a full week of practice before taking back over. Wentz is only in play in 2-QB and superflex fantasy leagues, but he’s been an upgrade for WR Justin Jefferson and the rest of the passing game.

        J.J. McCarthy Limited Wednesday

        1:04am UTC 10/16/25

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. QB Carson Wentz, who's dealing with a left (non-throwing) shoulder issue, was a full participant. HC Kevin O'Connell declined to name a starter on Wednesday for this weekend's game vs. the Eagles, but we're guessing it'll be Wentz unless McCarthy gets in a full practice one of these next two days.

J.J. McCarthy Out For Week 5

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday morning’s game vs. the Browns in London. QB Carson Wentz gets another start but will be without three starting offensive linemen (C Ryan Kelly, RT Brian O'Neill, and LG Donovan Jackson). Minnesota gets a much-needed bye in Week 6.

Is J.J. McCarthy Still Minnesota's Starter?

        6:58pm UTC 9/23/25

Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell "declined to say if he was 100% committed to [QB J.J.] McCarthy resuming his starting role once he is healthy" on Monday, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. McCarthy is out of his walking boot as he works back from a high-ankle sprain. But he's already been ruled out for Week 4, and it sounds like he's not guaranteed to immediately get the starting job back once healthy.
