The Saints are re-signing Edge Chase Young to a three-year deal worth $51 million, with incentives that could push it to $57 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Young spent last season with the Saints after splitting 2023 between the Commanders and 49ers. He opened his career in Washington, which drafted him second overall in 2020.

The Saints are firing HC Dennis Allen in the wake of Sunday's loss to the Panthers. That marked the seventh straight defeat after New Orleans opened the season with a pair of blowout victories. Allen spent roughly 2.5 seasons at the helm after seven as Saints defensive coordinator. Saints CB Paulson Adebo fractured his right femur in Thursday night's loss to the Broncos. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Adebo already had surgery early Friday morning and is looking at a 4-5 month recovery timeline. Adebo is set to hit unrestricted free agency in March.

Saints LB Demario Davis hurt a hamstring in position drills Wednesday and sat out the team portion of practice, NOLA.com's Matthew Paras reports. The team gave no further details on how long Davis might be out.

Saints Edge Cameron Jordan (ankle) and LB Pete Werner (shoulder, oblique) are active for today's game against the Panthers. Neither is a high-level IDP play, though there's upside to the matchup for each player.

That means he'll miss at least three more games, improving the WR matchups for the Lions, Panthers, and Giants the next three weeks. Unfortunately for us, that trio of teams doesn't feature many WRs worth plugging into starting lineups in common-sized fantasy football leagues.

Edge Jason Pierre-Paul will sign with the Saints, according to CBS' Josina Anderson. Pierre-Paul is an interesting addition for the New Orleans defense, but it's hard to imagine much fantasy impact. He tallied just 3 sacks -- plus 5 passes defensed -- over 14 games with the Ravens last season. JPP's now 34.

The Saints have several defensive starters questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts: LB Demario Davis (knee), S Tyrann Mathieu (foot), S Marcus Maye (hamstring, illness), and CB Alontae Taylor (hip). Davis and Mathieu played through their issues last week and seem likely to do so again. Taylor popped up on the injury report Thursday and put in limited practices Thursday and Friday. Maye finished the week missing Friday's workout. We'll check their statuses Sunday.

Maye's ban came from a 2021 DUI charge that didn't get resolved until this summer. Jordan Howden has been the primary fill-in, but Maye should immediately reclaim his post. The veteran collected 13 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 INT over this season's first two games. He's not a high-level IDP option but worth being aware of in deeper leagues.

The Saints have agreed to a two-year extension with Edge Cameron Jordan. The deal includes $27.5 million guaranteed, a particularly noteworthy number given that Jordan is already 34. He's coming off significant declines by nearly all measures last season, traditional stats and advanced metrics. This pact says New Orleans believes Jordan will remain a big part of the defense at least through this year, though. With a contract that now runs through 2025, Jordan's presence for 2024 seems like a lock as well. We'll see beyond that. Jordan doesn't sit as high in our IDP rankings as previous years. But he's also likely to go in value range of your drafts.

Saints CB Marshon Lattimore is active for today's game against the Eagles. It will be his 1st game action since Week 5 internal injuries that included a lacerated kidney. It's tough to know how effective he'll be, but New Orleans has clearly been cautious with the veteran. And he carried no game status on the final injury report of the week, despite remaining limited in practice. The long layoff will likely lessen any hesitation the Eagles might have about challenging Lattimore in coverage, which would help his target count. Lattimore will be a risk-reward play in IDP lineups for Week 17.
