Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Buccaneers fear EDGE Shaq Barrett tore his left Achilles' tendon in Thursday night's loss to the Ravens. We'll watch for confirmation, but that generally follows these reports. The injury would obviously end Barrett's season. It also might challenge his readiness for the start of next year. Barrett turns 30 in November and has 2 years remaining on his contract.

Update: MRI confirmed the Achilles' tear.

Buccaneers EDGE Shaq Barrett left Thursday night's game against the Ravens with an ankle injury, rode to the locker room on a cart and was quickly ruled out. That doesn't bode well for the longer-term prognosis. We'll watch for word on a specific diagnosis and return timeline.

The Buccaneers have ruled out CB Carlton Davis (hip) and DB Antoine Winfield Jr. (concussion). That certainly helps the matchup for Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and his pass-catchers. Winfield has spent more time at slot CB than safety so far this season. So these absences are especially helpful to WR Devin Duvernay and TE Mark Andrews. Duvernay and Davis have each primarily run on the same side of the formation, and Andrews remains Baltimore's biggest threat from the slot. We'll see whether Andrews and WR Rashod Bateman play through their "questionable" designations. Bateman did put in a full practice Wednesday, while Andrews hasn't practiced this week.

Buccaneers S Antoine Winfield Jr. left Sunday's loss to the Panthers for a concussion check and did not return. We'll watch for confirmation of the diagnosis.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (hip) is inactive for today's game against the Panthers. S Mike Edwards (elbow) is active after missing last week.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (hip) and S Mike Edwards (elbow) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers. Edwards put in full practices all week, so we'd bet on him playing. Davis went limited, no practice, limited. We'll check their statuses Sunday morning.

Buccaneers S Mike Edwards (elbow) is inactive for today's game against the Steelers.

Buccaneers S Mike Edwards (elbow) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers. We'll check his status Sunday.

The Buccaneers lost CB Carlton Davis (hip) and S Mike Edwards (arm) to injuries in the 2nd half of Sunday's win over the Falcons. HC Todd Bowles had no insight into either situation immediately after the game, so we'll watch for updates on their statuses this week.

As expected, the Buccaneers have re-signed DB Logan Ryan. They released the vet earlier this week to leave room for C Ryan Jensen on the regular-season roster so he could be designated to return from IR. It looks like Ryan will come in behind S Antoine Winfield Jr. and S Mike Edwards in playing time.

The Buccaneers are releasing S Logan Ryan, but multiple reports say they expect to re-sign him. Tampa needs a spot on the regular-season roster for C Ryan Jensen so they can put him on IR but with eligibility to return during the year. Because Ryan is a veteran, he's not subject to waivers and can thus choose to wait and re-sign with the team. We'll watch to confirm, but we're expecting Ryan to return and start for the Bucs.

The Buccaneers grabbed DL Logan Hall with the 1st pick of Round 2 in the NFL Draft. Hall enjoyed a breakthrough final season at Houston, tallying 47 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. At 6'6 and 285 pounds, Hall can play the edge and inside positions. He figures to play DE in Tampa Bay's 3-4 base defense and will likely be more of a tackle collector than big-play source for IDP leagues.

The Jets are signing former Buccaneers S Jordan Whitehead to a 2-year, $14.5 million deal, according to multiple reports. Whitehead spent most of the past 4 years in Tampa Bay's starting lineup, including all 44 of his appearances over the past 3 years. This money says he'll land in the starting lineup with his new team -- likely in place of Marcus Maye, who is also an unrestricted free agent after playing last season on the franchise tag. Whitehead has been a solid tackle collector with the Bucs and should be in a good spot for more of the same with the Jets. S Mike Edwards looks like the best current bet on Tampa Bay's roster to replace Whitehead. We'll see whether the Bucs make further moves at the position, though.

The Buccaneers expect to get RB Leonard Fournette back for the start of the playoffs, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Fournette has been out since Dec. 19 with a hamstring injury but reportedly did some running with trainers during this practice week. Tampa also reportedly expects to have LB Lavonte David (foot) ready for the playoffs.
