Van Jefferson Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Rams HC Sean McVay said Friday that WR Van Jefferson (knee) will play vs. the 49ers this weekend and have his "normal workload," per ESPN's Sarah Barshop. McVay added that Jefferson will be monitored throughout the game. A "normal workload" for Jefferson last year meant an 80% snap rate and 14.7% target share. It'd be a little surprising if Jefferson did that much in his 1st game since early-August knee surgery, but it sounds like McVay expects him to contribute. We'd try not to use Jefferson in season-long fantasy lineups this week, but he's an intriguing DFS flier.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. He was just designated to return from IR earlier this week after early-August knee surgery. We'll see if Jefferson is ready for this weekend's game vs. the 49ers.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) has been designated to return from IR. He'll practice on Wednesday and is eligible to play vs. the 49ers this weekend. We'll see if Jefferson is ready after early-August knee surgery. A struggling Rams passing game could certainly use his field-stretching ability. Jefferson is worth stashing in deeper fantasy leagues.

Rams HC Sean McVay said Monday that he expects to get WR Van Jefferson back after the Week 7 bye. Jefferson has been sidelined since undergoing knee surgery in early August. The Rams desperately need his deep speed. Jefferson averaged 16.0 yards per catch on a 13.5-yard average depth of target last season. None of the Rams' current top 3 WRs (Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson, Ben Skowronek) are averaging more than 10.8 yards per catch this year.

The Rams on Saturday placed WR Van Jefferson on IR. That's a little surprising given that he avoided IR to open the season while working back from summer knee surgery. This means he'll miss at least 3 more games beyond Sunday's clash with the Cardinals. Jefferson's continued absence means more playing time for WR Ben Skowronek and helps the target availability for WR Allen Robinson and TE Tyler Higbee. The Rams also elevated WR Jacob Harris from the practice squad Saturday.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Cardinals. He remained sidelined in practice all week and has no timetable for return.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Falcons. He still hasn't returned to practice after early-August knee surgery, so don't bank on a Week 3 return. Ben Skowronek replaced Jefferson as Los Angeles' #3 WR in the opener, turning 6 targets into 4 catches for 25 scoreless yards.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) is out for Thursday night's opener vs. the Bills. He didn't practice all week, so a Week 2 return doesn't look particularly likely. Jefferson's snaps are expected to be picked up by a committee of WRs Tutu Atwell, Ben Skowronek and Brandon Powell. None is a viable fantasy play outside of DFS showdown contests. WR Cooper Kupp, WR Allen Robinson and TE Tyler Higbee should be the clear focal points of the Rams' passing game against Buffalo.

Pro Football Network's Aaron Wilson confirms that Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) won't play in Thursday night's opener vs. the Bills. But Wilson hears that Jefferson is expected back "within the first few games" of the season. We'll see if he's able to get on the practice field next week.

Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) did not practice on Monday. He's looking like a long shot for Thursday night's opener vs. the Bills after undergoing knee surgery at the beginning of August. Jefferson's absence will leave Tutu Atwell and Ben Skowronek at the Rams' #3 and #4 WRs -- and leave extra targets for WR Cooper Kupp, WR Allen Robinson and TE Tyler Higbee.

Rams WR Van Jefferson has started the rehab process after undergoing knee surgery and "has a chance" to play Week 1, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. That jibes with a previous report from The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue. We'll continue to monitor Jefferson's progress leading up to the Thursday night opener vs. the Bills.

The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue hears that Rams WR Van Jefferson's knee surgery "went great" and that "it’s realistic to believe he can return by the Sept. 8 opener." You probably won't want to be using Jefferson in Week 1 fantasy lineups, but it doesn't sound like we should be adjusting his season-long outlook much, if at all.

Rams WR Van Jefferson will have surgery on his left knee, HC Sean McVay announced to reporters Monday. The issue still doesn't sound major, though. Jefferson is only expected to miss "a few weeks," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapport. The young wideout is "TBD for Week 1." We'll see about Jefferson's status as Week 1 approaches. He remains in play as an end-of-draft option for deeper leagues, though there's obviously risk that the situation limits him into the season. Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell look like the top 2 candidates for the 3rd WR role if Jefferson misses regular-season games. We also could see more target share go to Cooper Krupp and/or Allen Robinson in that case.
